Jordan Chiles’ post-gymnastics life has been an interesting topic for her fans. They got their shot at finding answers when the 23-year-old star appeared at the 2024 Teen Vogue Summit. Thankfully, she was eager to satisfy their curiosity. “I love seeing things just be designed in different ways. That’s one thing,” she said, explaining her interest in the lands and housing arena.

Chiles, who spoke on a range of issues at the summit, including her mental health struggles, revealed that “a lot of people ask” about her future after gymnastics. According to the gymnast, there are “so many things” to do. But real estate is at the top of the list for a reason: to advance society.

“I have a very creative mind. So, I definitely think the biggest thing for me is just ‘How can I help my community,’” she disclosed. “Real estate is a huge thing that I want to do, being able to give back, whether it’s a charity, whether it’s a foundation that needs help,” she stressed.

Jordan Chiles’ Career Also Needs More Creativity

Jordan Chiles might sell you some property in the future. But for now, she is channeling her creative spirit into becoming a better version of herself and a positive influence on her fans. Although she acknowledges that she is already a brand, she believes that she needs to build on it and position herself to reach more people.

“In reality, I think it’s just continuing to make a brand for myself and to make sure everybody understands that Jordan Chiles is Jordan Chiles,” she stated, “Not just as an athlete, but also as a human.”

To this end, Chiles has been pretty open about her personal life, especially after she endured the sad experience of getting stripped of a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Chiles also endured some social media bashing as the drama ensued. She also spoke to Teen Vogue Associate Editor Aiyana Ishmael about her experience at the Olympics and afterward.

“There’s a lot of pressure, but I take my pressure turned into something great,” she said. “I use every negative comment—everything that’s thrown at me. And I use it to continue on my task, my journey.”

Chiles also disclosed that she recites some mantras to keep her confidence high. She believes practice is crucial for every athlete, especially those on the big stage. “When I wake up and look at myself in the mirror, and say, ‘I am that girl,” she revealed.

When Did Jordan Chiles Start Gymnastics?

Jordan Lucella Elizabeth Chiles was born on April 15, 2001, in Tualatin, Oregon, but grew up in Vancouver, Washington. Her parents, Timothy and Gina Chiles, named her after the great basketball icon Michael Jordan. Somehow, they knew that she was destined for global sports prominence.

After many years of practice, Jordan Chiles’s career kicked off at the age of 12. She participated in the 2013 American Classic, where she bagged the bronze medal in the all-around. She also joined the United States team at the time and competed internationally. However, her senior gymnastics career began in 2017 when she was 16.

Jordan Chiles almost gave up on the sport after missing the senior national team in 2018. After being a part of the team since 2013, the news was too devastating for her to bear. She planned to hang up her leotard before she made a U-turn. “I lost the love of the sport. I felt like I didn’t belong; I felt like gymnastics didn’t want me,” she recalled.

Her decision to stay put turned out to be one of the wisest she has ever made. Perseverance finally paid off when she saw her name as one of the members of Team USA for the 2024 Olympics. She disclosed that she was immediately moved to tears. She posted a video soon after stating, “I’m crying. I’m literally crying. This is so surreal,” as she covered her mouth with her hand still in shock.

Jordan Chiles’ first gymnastics competition, the 2013 American Classic, was held in July at Huntsville, Texas. After an impressive showing, she received an invitation to join the United States Junior National Team. In 2014, she competed internationally for the first time at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Jesolo, Italy.

Over the years, Chiles has become one of the top gymnasts in the U.S. through hard work and talent. As an Olympic medalist, she has achieved a blissful and rewarding career and a net worth of $1.5 million. Yet, she still has much to achieve before becoming a real estate agent.
