Following Kamala Harris’ defeat in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate’s daughter, Hope Walz, shared a motivational statement. Taking to her social media account, Hope stated that campaigning for Harris and her father, Tim Walz, was the pride of “my life.”
On November 7, 2024, Hope took to her Instagram to share a heartfelt message to her father and stepmother. She wrote, “I come out of [the election] a better, kinder, more confident, and compassionate person. Traveling this country and meeting people where they are has been an experience that will drive me for years to come.”
However, to conclude her write-up on a more hopeful note, Hope continued, “All I can say is the America I have come to know the past 3 months is not one of hate, but one of hope.”

Hope Walz is the eldest daughter and child of Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz and his wife, Gwen Walz. “When my wife and I decided to have children, we spent years going through infertility treatments, and I remember praying every night for a call for good news, the pit in my stomach when the phone rang, and the agony when we heard that the treatments hadn’t worked,” Tim said. “So, it wasn’t by chance that when we welcomed our daughter into the world, we named her Hope.”

After graduating in 2023, Hope Walz received a bachelor’s degree in criminology with a minor in women’s gender and sexuality studies. As of 2024, Hope works as a ski instructor at Big Sky and a social worker at a homeless shelter in Bozeman, Montana.

In the picture, the Minnesota governor is sitting in a comfortable recliner with the family’s cat, Honey, on his lap. Captioning the photo, she wrote, “The earth keeps spinning,” adding over the picture, “and we live to fight another day.”
