Zendaya unveiled some exciting news regarding the highly awaited season 3 of “Euphoria,” during her interview on Entertainment Weekly’s “The Awardist” podcast. The beloved HBO series is poised to take a significant step forward in its third season. The main actress Zendaya, 28, is as excited as we are.

Following two grueling seasons of high school drama, the Emmy-winning actress recently spoke out about the imminent time shift. She also spoke about what it means for her character, Rue Bennett, and the rest of the East Highland crew.

Zendaya joked that there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with, hinting that even Rue is ready to move on from love triangles and locker room showdowns.

She sarcastically added, “And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!” While she could not reveal too many details about the new chapter, Zendaya confirmed that a time jump is locked in.

She mentioned that she does not know exactly what the season will look like, but the time jump is definitely happening. Rue and the group are entering adulthood, and we are all riding along for the adventure.

She stated that it would be intriguing to observe and comprehend these individuals outside of the high school environment. She is intrigued about how their childhood experiences and difficulties may influence who they become as adults in a much larger world.

The leap into maturity allows for more in-depth storytelling. It demonstrates how the traumas, addictions, and problems of adolescence impacted these characters’ lives. Zendaya expressed interest in seeing how Rue, who has fought with addiction and loss, develops in this new stage of life.

Was Euphoria Season 3 Delayed?

Production on “Euphoria” season 3 has been delayed for various reasons, including the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but fans may expect to see the cameras roll. However, this season will miss two familiar faces. Barbie Ferreira, who played fan-favorite Kat Hernandez, offered a “teary-eyed goodbye” to her character following season 2.

Tragically, Angus Cloud, who played the sensitive but tormented Fezco, died in July 2023, leaving an indelible mark on the show’s cast and viewers. Despite these farewells, Zendaya and the rest of the returning cast are preparing to return to the intense world of “Euphoria.”

Casey Bloys, HBO’s chief content officer, affirmed that the core cast will return following the time jump.

What Is Euphoria Season 3 Release Date?

At the end of season 2, which aired in 2022, protagonist character Rue Bennett (played by Zendaya) told viewers: “I stayed clean for the rest of the school year. I wish I could say it was my decision. In some ways, it was just simpler.”

While “Euphoria” was renewed for a third season in February 2022, new episodes will not air until at least 2025. Filming was scheduled to begin in the first half of 2024. However, HBO has announced that it will commence in January 2025. As a result, HBO has not announced a release date for “Euphoria” season 3.

He explained that it takes a while because there are a lot of frames and tiny scenes, and creator Sam Levinson is very meticulous in his work. Domingo assured fans that it is going to be worth the wait.

Zendaya expressed her hope that season 3 brings a bit of happiness and joy after the tumultuous second season. She mentioned that she would like to explore Rue‘s journey toward sobriety.

During an appearance on “Chicks in the Office,” Storm Reid, who plays Rue‘s sister, Gia Bennett, mentioned that she hopes season 3 will have a bit more light and joy. She added that she really wants the Bennett family to be able to go and get some ice cream without screaming and yelling at each other for once.
