Jamie Foxx Shares His Side of Health Scare in Emotional Stage Show

Jamie Foxx hit the stage in Atlanta to share his 2023 health scare tale for his one-man performance “One More Chance: An Evening with Jamie Foxx”. He is now telling followers just how he feels about the situation. 

The Oscar winner expressed on Instagram that his heart and soul were filled with pure delight as he posted photos reflecting on the opportunity to tell his side of the story on October 3, 4, and 5 in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Foxx praised the audience and thanked Atlanta, noting that despite not having been on stage in 18 years, he needed that stage and an audience full of pure love, which they supplied.

He explained that when people ask if it’s a stand-up comedy event, he says no, it’s an artistic interpretation of something that went horribly wrong. Foxx also praised the wonderful people of Atlanta, particularly Piedmont Hospital, for allowing him to return to the stage and do what he enjoys most. 

He further used the hashtag #nobaddays and expressed thanks for another chance. He concluded with a heartfelt thanks to Atlanta. His celebrity pals expressed their love and support in the comments. Busta Rhymes congratulated him, stating that he has been greatly missed by many.

The rapper additionally pointed out that the blessings do not stop, and neither will they, closing with a toast to Jamie Foxx. Jo Koy called him the “G.O.A.T,” and Kevin Hart shared his love and excitement, saying he can’t wait to see it.

What Happened to Jamie Foxx?

Jamie Foxx was transported to a hospital on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The actor’s daughter Corinne Foxx revealed on Instagram that her father had a medical issue. Fortunately, thanks to prompt action and excellent treatment, he was on his path to recovery. 

Corinne expressed gratitude for the love and prayers and requested privacy during that time. According to TMZ, Jamie Foxx’s predicament was serious enough to qualify as a “medical emergency.” 

His family, some of whom were not in town, arrived at the hospital to be with him during that time. Foxx has previously credited his sister Deidra with saving his life during the health crisis.

He shared in an Instagram post that he would not be here if not for the decisions she made. He expressed his gratitude and acknowledged that her actions prevented him from losing his life.

Jamie Foxx on His Health Scare

Jamie Foxx revealed more about the mysterious ailment that landed him in the hospital last April. The 56-year-old actor discussed the early days of his health scare in a video posted on X.

Foxx recounted to a group at an outdoor café in Phoenix that on April 11, 2023, he had a bad headache and asked his boy for an Advil. He snapped his fingers, indicating how quickly things escalated, and said he was gone for 20 days, with no memory of what happened.

The actor explained that while he was in Atlanta, his sister Deidra Dixon and daughter Corinne Foxx took him to the first doctor. He also mentioned that there, he received a cortisone shot.

He further explained that the next doctor mentioned something was going on in his head. Pointing to his head, he earned laughs from the crowd by saying he won’t mention it on camera.

What Does Jamie Foxx Do?

Born Eric Marlon Bishop on December 13, 1967, Jamie Foxx is an American actor, singer, and comedian. He made his career breakthrough as a prominent player on the sketch comedy show “In Living Color,” which ran until 1994. 

Following his popularity, he was granted his own comedy, “The Jamie Foxx Show,” for which he starred, co-created, and produced from 1996 to 2001. Afterward, Foxx won Academy, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild, and Golden Globe awards for his depiction of Ray Charles in the film “Ray” (2004).
