Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, discusses prolonging divorce from her ex-husband for their children. She said on “The Martha Stewart Podcast” that she and her ex-husband, Ed Kelce, developed a strategy for their final divorce after 25 years of marriage.
Donna, the mother of NFL talents Jason and Travis Kelce, explained that she and Ed chose to prioritize their children and stay married until both sons finished college. Donna explained that the split occurred only after the boys departed for school.
She mentioned they worked as a team and underlined the difficulties of raising active children alone. She went on to state that they had decided to stay married for the duration of their children’s stay-at-home, and that is how things worked out.
What Their Children Think About Their Relationship
In the 2023 documentary “Kelce” on Amazon Prime, Travis said he saw something unusual in his parents’ relationship when he observed that they didn’t share a bedroom. He said he began to recognize his parents were likely going to divorce in middle school when he began to make such connections.

However, he thought it was in his and Jason’s best interests that they had remained together. Ed talked about the sacrifices he and Donna made to support their sons in pursuing their passions.
He stated that if they had split, as they both would have desired, it would have been a logistical nightmare to get the kids where they needed to go while still providing all of the assistance.
Despite their final separation, both parents continued to attend their sons’ games and attended the New Heights podcast’s inaugural live broadcast on April 11 in their hometown of Cincinnati.
Donna handed out sandwiches to supporters at the event, mirroring a gesture made by Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift. This echoed Scott’s generosity when he shared sandwiches and fruit from a food cart with concertgoers on his daughter’s Eras Tour in Sydney, Australia.

Donna Kelce and Ed Kelce are no longer married. They were together for nearly 25 years before calling it quits, and they are still on good terms today. Following their sons’ college graduations, the couple divorced.

While the Kelce family suffered as a result of the divorce, Donna lovingly remembers her marriage with Ed. Donna Kelce assured her sons on “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce” that she holds no ill will toward their father. She also regards him as a very important person in her life.
Donna stated on the podcast that she does not dislike him and that they remain friends to this day. She stated that they get along well and described them as a tag team with the kids, allowing them to undertake a variety of interesting activities.
She also mentioned that if one of them had to leave town, the other would take care of the other child, which worked out well.

Travis and Jason Kelce do not have any siblings. Jason and Travis, born two years apart, grew up in Ohio and have always encouraged healthy rivalry among themselves. The two have participated in a variety of activities since they were children, including baseball. Jason plays hockey in addition to football.
Jason played college football as an offensive lineman for the University of Cincinnati before being chosen into the NFL.
Travis went to the same university as his brother, and the two ultimately played on the same collegiate team. Jason was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles following his graduation.

How Did Donna Kelce And Ed Kelce Meet?
For Donna and Ed Kelce, it was love at first sight. While sharing their love story on New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, the couple stated that they met just before Donna was about to go on another date and instantly fell in love.
Donna dropped by Fagan’s in Old Cleveland Flats on her way to the date, where Ed happened to stop for an after-work drink as well. Long story short, Donna never met the other guy after she and Ed began conversing, and the rest was history.
