Popular TV personality Ellen DeGeneres has finally announced her departure from Hollywood. The popular show host has announced that she will be leaving the public eye after the release of her upcoming Netflix special.
Earlier in July 2024, DeGeneres visited Santa Rosa, California, when a fan asked DeGeneres if she would be venturing into the film business or Broadway. However, DeGeneres’s response was rather unexpected, as the show business veteran stated that she would be leaving Hollywood and the public eye.
What is Ellen DeGeneres Doing Now?
DeGeneres said this was the last time she would be seen in the public eye and after her Netflix special, she was done. DeGeneres’ Netflix special is expected to air later in 2024, with the live show starting on August 16, 2024.
Additionally, she said that she was thankful to fans for still caring about her and volunteered to catch them in her life. DeGeneres said since she was blacklisted from Hollywood for being mean, she has gotten chicken. She jokingly added that if she remained in show business, she would be kicked out for being old

DeGeneres added that at the time she would be given the triple crown of old, gay, and mean. DeGeneres previously stated that she did not care about people’s opinion of her, a statement she has made on numerous occasions.
However, she realized that she was at the peak of her career when she made the claim. Additionally, DeGeneres stated that while she can be described with many adjectives, “mean” wasn’t one of them. When contacted for additional information, DeGeneres’ media spokesperson did not reply.

In April 2024, Degeneres opened up about the 2020 toxic workplace scandal that negatively affected her career. During one of her stand-up shows in Los Angeles, DeGeneres spoke about being ousted from showbiz for being “mean.”
According to fans at her stand-up routine, DeGeneres said she had nothing else to say about the incident. She added: “Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business. There’s no mean people in show business.”

In 2020, the Ellen DeGeneres show faced several allegations of a toxic work environment. Additionally, several former employees accused some of the show’s fired producers of sexual misconduct. There was a producer who was reported to be at the center of many of the allegations.
Subsequently, after the revelation and the devastating impact on the show, DeGeneres announced that the show was coming to an end in 2021. Additionally, DeGeneres issued a public apology to her staff and former staff. Despite her announcement about the show’s ending, the final episode aired in May 2022.
Ellen DeGeneres’ Wife and Marriage
Portia de Rossi and DeGeneres married in 2008, seven years after their first meeting in 2001. The couple had their first meeting at a Rock the Vote concert back in 2001. According to de Rossi, when they originally met, de Rossi had yet to announce that she was a lesbian. However, she claimed that it was love at first sight.
