The love story of “Vampire Diaries” stars Joseph Morgan and Persia White is a far cry from the typical Hollywood romance.
Like most Hollywood love stories, “Brave New World” actor Joseph Morgan, 39, and his wife Persia White, 48, began their romance on-set. However, the relationship between the duo goes beyond their physical connection and shared career paths.
Although they never played lovers on-set, the duo connected remarkably well, going against the odds to take their romance to the altar. Six years later, they are still going strong, despite their daunting schedules, personal issues, and a brow-raising age difference.
MORGAN AND WHITE’S FIRST MEETING
Joseph Morgan and Persia White first met in 2011. They stumbled upon each other while filming the third season of “The Vampire Diaries.”
While Morgan starred as Niklaus Mikaelson, an original vampire, White played Abby Bennett Wilson, a witch. The actress’s stint on the show lasted only six episodes, but that was enough time for the duo to build something special.
Shortly after working together on the CW show, the pair collaborated again in Morgan’s short film, “Revelation,” released in 2011.
KICKING OFF THEIR ROMANCE
Joseph Morgan and Persia White began dating sometime in 2011. However, the two managed to keep their relationship a secret for a long time, save for occasional sightings in public together.
Before their relationship came to light, the “Vampire Diaries” stars graced several events as a couple, including the 52nd Monte Carlo TV Festival, which took place in August 2012. That same year, they honored multiple interviews together to promote “Revelation.”
White and Morgan became less conservative in 2013, letting off more obvious signs of a brewing romance. Pictures of them holding hands at the CW Upfronts, where the Klaus role player was promoting his CW series, “The Originals,” hit the tabloids, raising dating speculations.
TAKING THE ROMANCE TO SOCIAL MEDIA
As their relationship progressed, the twosome proved themselves as the perfect Hollywood sweethearts, flooding social media with loads of cuteness. To mark the New Year in January 2014, Morgan tweeted a suggestive message, extending New Year wishes to fans from “@Realpersiawhite and myself.”
White reciprocated by tweeting how she could hardly wait for “tonight” to watch “The Originals.” She even referred to the series as the best new show on TV.
THEIR ENGAGEMENT
Just when it seemed things couldn’t be any better between the pair, Morgan proposed to the 48-year-old “Girlfriends” star after three years of dating. The couple became engaged in May 2014, days before the actor’s 33rd birthday.
To announce their engagement, Morgan, and White released a joint statement, in appreciation of everyone who supported their “unlikely” relationship. Going further, they acknowledged their true love for each other and wished that everyone else found true love.
WHITE AND MORGAN’S WEDDING
Two months into their engagement, Persia White and Joseph Morgan tied the knot in an intimate beach-front ceremony. Their wedding took place on July 5, 2014, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and had 26 guests in attendance.
Following Morgan’s marriage to the “Girlfriends” star, he became a stepfather to her daughter, Mecca White, born in 1995.
Since legalizing their union, Persia White and her husband have enjoyed marital bliss, giving room for no scandal threatening to tear their love apart.
