Former MSNBC host Keith Olbermann is facing a lot of backlash after posting a comment on X (formerly Twitter). The quoted post insinuated that he was hoping that someone would assassinate former President Donald. Some even call X officials to banish him completely from the platform.
This happened shortly after the Biden-Harris HQ account on X flagged a clip of Trump saying he had been persecuted worse than any president in history, including Abraham Lincoln. The account wrote, “Trump says he has been treated worse than Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated.”
Olbermann then quoted the post, saying, “There’s always the hope.” Immediately, he started to get a lot of backlash for this comment. Many were wondering what exactly he meant by this. Was this a threat to the former president’s life? Or was he publicly declaring his hope that someone would assassinate Trump?
One account responded, saying that X should “permanently suspend” Olbermann’s account for endorsing the killing of Trump. Another wrote, “Olbermann should be in prison.”

Another took it a step further, “Dear #SecretService, I would like to report Keith Olbermann for encouraging the assassination of Donald Trump,” he wrote. “Please handle this matter as you would with the average citizen. Thank you.”
However, Olbermann later clarified on X that he did not want anyone to assassinate Trump. Instead, he wants him to go to prison. He has deleted both posts from his page.
Both Olbermann and Trump’s campaign representatives did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital. As Trump tried to become the second president since Grover Cleveland to win another White House term after losing a previous re-election bid, he has made many headlines.

After a speech where he said the American auto industry would experience a “bloodbath” if they re-elect Biden, a lot of major media outlets and political figures have criticized Trump greatly.
In his Ohio campaign, he said, “Those big monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, you’re going to not hire Americans, and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no.”
“We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars if I get elected.” He continued, “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole.
That’s gonna be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it. But they’re not going to sell those cars. They’re building massive factories.”

Many took this as a hidden threat to Americans. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also said that the people cannot let Trump win the upcoming elections. “We have – we just have to win this election because he’s even predicting a bloodbath,” she said.
“What does that mean? He‘s going to exact a bloodbath?” she asked. The public has mixed views on this as some think it was not a threat while others believe it definitely was.
