12-year-old Tennyson Artigliere had a mission: to help save her school’s arts program. So, she started a GoFundMe to raise funds for the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) to keep it alive and kicking. However, she didn’t expect that her GoFundMe would attract the likes of Alicia Keys and Roc Nation.
The school’s official Instagram page posted, “We have some unfortunate news. Due to significant budget cuts, PPAS has lost 20% of its funding. As a result, the Drama program will be suspended in one month for the remainder of the school year.”
“That is if enough money hasn’t been raised to help it continue to operate. A GoFundMe page has been initiated, and the link can be found in our bio. Please, please donate what you can so that the students can continue to participate in the very reasons they attend our special school.”
The GoFundMe post caught the attention of Alicia Keys, who attended the New York City School. As an alumnus, she decided to help Artigliere’s noble cause. Along with her entertainment company, Roc Nation, they chipped in $60,000 towards the goal.

In addition, Alicia Keys and Roc Nation have pledged to help raise money for the program every year until the city can fund it themselves. Thanks to her incredible support, the GoFundMe went viral, with over 600 people donating to the cause of the school.
Another famous alumnus, Jeremy Allen White, also heard about the donation plan. He donated to the cause and posted the link on his IG, encouraging people to contribute.
“This is where I went to high school, it’s an incredible program with some incredible teachers,” he wrote while sharing the school’s post on his Instagram. “Please help IF YOU ARE ABLE. I have donated.”

The 7th grader is beyond ecstatic about the assistance from the celebrities. In fact, her classmates could not believe it when she revealed that Alicia would be stepping in to save their arts program.
“We still talk about her legacy every single day,” she said. With Alicia’s generous $60,000 donation, they surpassed her goal as they had raised about $53,000 before the “Girl on Fire” singer stepped in.
“I wanted to save my school, I wanted to make a difference,” said the little girl. “The day I received the email (that they would cut the program), I immediately messaged my school group chat.”

In addition, she said, “’We brainstormed about what we could do. We wouldn’t let the program that brought so many students so much happiness and brought us together be cut short.” Without a doubt, her bravery and smart plan have helped save the school’s art program.
Just like Alicia Keys, who was 12 when she joined the school, the 7th grader is showing a lot of passion and dedication to the arts. Hopefully, she will have a great career someday, like the 16-time Grammy Award-winning Alicia Keys.
