Carole Hooven, a former Harvard University lecturer, claims she lost her career due to the great power of DEI and a total lack of support from her colleagues. In 2021, Hooven was in some controversy about biological sex, and her career went downhill from there.

Earlier this month, she spoke to The Dishcast’s Andrew Sullivan, narrating her experience and disappointment. “I gave everything to that place. I had expected that they would (support me),” Hooven said.

Before everything happened, the former lecturer taught the Hormones and Behavior” human evolutionary biology course at the university. However, she became an online figure in 2021 after she spoke about pressures on medical school professors to avoid using terms like “male,” “female” and “pregnant women.”

At the time, she told Fox News that ideology is not as important as biology. She said, “The ideology seems to be that biology really isn’t as important as how somebody feels about themselves or feels their sex to be.”

“The facts are that there are, in fact, two sexes — there are male and female — and those sexes are designated by the kind of gametes we produce.”As expected, her comments quickly made rounds online.

The Harvard DEI officer, Laura Simone Lewis, also condemned Hooven’s remarks, claiming that she committed a “transphobic” attack on “non-cis people within the med system.”

Lewis took to Twitter (now X) to blast the former lecturer for her comments. “Let’s be clear: if you respect diverse gender identities & aim to use correct pronouns, then you would know that people with diverse genders/sexes can be pregnant including Trans men, intersex people & gender nonconforming people,’ she wrote.

“Inclusive language like ‘pregnant people’ demonstrates respect for EVERYONE who has the ability to get pregnant, not just cis women.” Without a doubt, a lot of Twitter users back then agreed with Lewis.

Therefore, her public criticism of Hooven’s comments went viral and had some lasting effects. The former lecturer also suggested that this online backlash is the reason why she had to leave Harvard eventually. The online comments translated into real life, and she was getting many unkind words from people.

In addition, Hooven believes that DEI is the Nakhon cause for a lot of issues like this. With graduate students scooping up DEI positions, administrators are afraid to speak out against them.

“A lot of the norms of discourse changed because of DEI influence. It was very influential, and I know for a fact that faculty were nervous about p—–g off the people on the DEI task force,” she said.

She also expressed her disappointment as she thought someone from her department would stand up for her. “This was 2021, and I didn’t know everything I know now. I had expected that they would (support me), but nobody knew what to do,” she continued.

She also claims to have no animosity towards Lewis but still blames DEI for all that happened to her. “This happened because DEI is so powerful in the university,” she said. Hopefully, she knows better now, and this will guide her actions moving forward.
