Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines blasted Democrats in a chat with Newsweek. According to the swimmer-turned-activist, Democrats are waging a war on women. Gaines noted that due to their adherence to “a transgender agenda,” the 2024 presidential election will shift into high gear.

In addition, Gaines said no amount of death threats and protests will prevent her from speaking her mind. During the interview, the former swimmer hinted at getting death threats and protests in 2022. Hence, she said even if detractors call her some version of an anti-trans bigot, she will still fight against the “transgender agenda.”

“I do believe it’s my mission as a Christian to spread God’s word, so I block out a lot of the noise,” she said. Gaines accused Biden of reducing the word “mother” to “birthing person.” Also, she accused Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of reducing the word “woman” to “menstruating people.”

According to her, how the Democrats reduce women to nothing is proof of her claim of a war on women. “Can you imagine reducing men to erection-havers or sperm-producers or another biological function?” Gaines said. “Men wouldn’t put up with it.”

During the interview, the former NCAA swimmer also pointed to trans athletes as part of the problem. Gaines said the plethora of trans women who have earned “woman-of-the-year” awards is further proof of a war on women.

USA Today, for example, named Minnesota House Representative Leigh Fink one of its 2023 Women of the Year. Also, in 2022, it gave the same award to Rachel Levine, the U.S. assistant secretary of health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Similarly, Virgin Atlantic teamed with the gay lifestyle publication Attitude. They named Dylan Mulvaney, a trans woman influencer famous for promoting Bud Light, its Woman of the Year. “I don’t know why more liberals and feminists aren’t up in arms about this,” Gaines said.

“Isn’t this the patriarchy they love to complain about?” She also asked whether women are to step aside while organizations name White men as the best women. According to a 2020 study published on the National Institutes of Health website, “transgender identity development is not linear.”

Hence, it “may fluctuate over time.” The study says, “Gender transitioning and affirmation is generally a positive experience associated with improvements in mental health.” It also includes “reduced symptoms of depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation.”

However, Gaines believes her views are harmless and maintains that she’s on the popular side of the debate. In 2023, ESPN honored Lia Thomas for a “Celebrating Women’s History Month” segment. Also, Sports Illustrated nominated Thomas for NCAA Woman of the Year a year earlier.

While some applauded the awards, Gained blasted them. “It’s a mockery to say men make better women than women do,” Gaines said. “And you rarely see it the other way around.” The former NCAA swimmer continued, “You don’t see them honor women who transition to men as men of the year.”

“There’s a war on women,” added Gaines, a conservative who endorses Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for president. “You don’t see women demanding to compete against men or demanding to use men’s restrooms,” she says.

Gaines also cited the example of Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn asking Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to define a woman. In response, the then-nominee justice said: “I’m not a biologist.” She said, “Our officials can’t even define what a woman is. They’re trying to erase us.”

The fight against trans women’s participation in women’s sports has become more intense. While some states have passed laws to ban trans women, others argue it is a violation of their rights.

However, NCAA swimmer-turned-activist Riley Gaines believes not banning trans women from women’s sports is a war against women.
