Ja Morant’s sister, Teniya Morant, is an 18-year-old Basketball player who has gained popularity for her spectacular style of play. But mostly, the attention she gets stems from her relationship with NBA star Ja Morant.
Who Is Ja Morant’s Sister?
Teniya Morant was born on Feb. 16, 2005. She is the daughter of Tee and Jamie Morant and is the only sibling of Ja Morant. The young basketball star grew up with her family in Dalzell, South Carolina. Teniya and Ja’s father, Tee, has a huge influence on them.
Ja Morant’s sister, Teniya Morant, is also a basketball player. She is five years younger than the Memphis Grizzlies star and is currently a senior at Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee.
Teniya is following in her brother’s footsteps. While Ja has established himself as one of the best players in the NBA, his sister will do her best to have a professional basketball career.
Teniya Morant’s Basketball Career
On January 31, 2023, Ja Morant’s sister announced that she received a scholarship offer from Mississippi Valley State. Considering how amazing she’s been on the floor, this is no surprise. The 18-year-old point guard also announced her commitment to play at Mississippi Valley State University in a post on Instagram.
Teniya, a 5-foot-3 senior at Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee, shared a collage of photos that showed her sporting a green and white jersey.
“Let’s go, Devilettes,” she wrote on Instagram, adding red and green heart emojis, the team’s colors, and the hashtag “committed.” LSU All-American forward Angel Reese commented with: “Congrats baby” and heart emojis.
In a separate comment, Reese — who helped the Lady Tigers win their first championship in program history in April 2023 — added, “See your game 2.” The photos show Ja’s sister will wear No. 10 at Mississippi Valley State after wearing No. 1 in high school.
According to Commercial Appeal, Mississippi Valley State was Teniya’s first Division I basketball offer in late January. She also received interest from Grambling State. Her basketball career has been highlighted repeatedly on social media, and there is even a video of her playing while her brother Ja watches from the stands. He celebrates every single moment Teniya does something great.
In terms of her style of play, she is still relatively short, but she never lets that dictate her game. Teniya still goes through any defense and scores from various parts of the court. She is also quite the sharpshooter from a long distance. It should be interesting to see if she can emulate her brother and follow in the same footsteps.
Ja Morant and Teniya Morant’s Relationship
In June 2023, Ja brought his daughter Kaari Jaidyn Morant to watch Teniya play in the Overtime Elite Takeover event, Queen of the Court, at OTE Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
The OTE annual event hosts top male and female high school basketball players. Izela Arenas, the daughter of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, won the Queen of the Court title at the OTE event.
Teniya has also praised her brother and his incredible basketball skills. However, she doesn’t always want to be compared to the Memphis Grizzlies superstar.
She once said,
“What he does, yeah I’m proud of him, But he’s him, and I’m me. I don’t want people to compare me to him just because he’s him. I mean, yeah we work out together, but I’m still my own person at the end of the day.”

Building her name will be difficult, but Teniya is capable of it. Considering her incredible achievements, she’ll likely have a successful professional career.
Ja Morant’s Scandalous NBA Season
Ja Morant attended the 2023 OTE event one week before he appeared to hold a firearm in an Instagram Live video posted by someone he was riding in a vehicle with. It came less than three months after he was seen with a gun in an Instagram Live while in a Denver-area strip club.
Ja commented on the second video after news surfaced that he would likely face a lengthy suspension. “I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me,” the Grizzlies star said in a statement via ESPN. “This is a journey, and I recognize more work to do.
“My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.”
