We have seen her dominate the movie industry for so many years. However, no one knows much about Julia Robert’s family life.
Julia Roberts is a name that connotes many things in the entertainment industry. To some, the name reflects excellence; to others, longevity. Some might simply just say Iconic. If you pick any of the three, you’ll be right.
The actress, a native of Smyrna, Georgia, is one of the leading women in Hollywood. Since making her debut in the late 1980s TV series “Crime Story,” she hasn’t looked back. Julia’s next acting appearance came in “Mystic Pizza,” starring as the wild, vulnerable Daisy.
Just a year later, Julia continued her fast rise in the movie industry, starring in the movie “Steel Magnolias.” Her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for best-supporting actress.
She replicated her form in the box-office hit “Pretty Woman” opposite Richard Gere in 1990. For another sterling performance, the actress earned another Academy Award nomination for best actress.
However, her next two projects proved to be a surprising disappointment. “Dying Young” in 1991 and “Hook” received negative reviews. Thankfully she returned with a bang in 1993 with “Pelican Brief” opposite Denzel Washington.
Julia Robert’s Mainstream Success
Julia then dominated the box office with the romantic comedies “My Best Friend’s Wedding” in 1997 and “Notting Hill” in 1999. The actress would break a record in 2000 when she received $20 million as the titular character in the true story “Erin Brockovich.”
The money she got for the movie made her the first woman to receive such a sturdy sum. The film also won Julia her first Oscar award. The following year she starred opposite Bradd Pitt in “The Mexican.” While filming the movie, the actress met Danny Moder, who would later become her husband.
Julia has since continued to star in highly rated movies like “Ocean’s Eleven” in 2001 and “Ocean’s Twelve” in 2004. She also appeared in “Closer” in 2004 and made her Broadway debut in “Three Days of Rain” in 2006.
In 2007, she starred in “War” with Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Her performance earned her another Golden Globe nomination. Other top movies under her credits include: “Duplicity,” “Larry Crowne,” “August: Osage Country,” “The Normal Heart,” and “Homecoming.”
Julia Roberts’ Family
Julia met her husband Danny while filming the movie “The Mexican” in 2002. Danny worked as a cameraman on the set. Although they were both involved with other people at the time, the pair remained friends.
The actress was dating Benjamin Bratt while Danny married make-up artist Vera Steimberg. However, Julia and Danny got out of their relationships to start their romantic journey.
At the time, the actress denied her relationship with Danny was what made him separate from Vera. Instead, she explained that they sorted things out separately, ultimately allowing them to fall in love.
The couple kept the relationship very private and low-key. Even Julia’s emerald engagement ring reportedly cost around £3,000. The pair eventually tied the knot at Julia’s ranch in New Mexico. But, as always, they kept the details of the event secret.
Julia and Danny welcomed twins Phinnaeus Walter and Hazel Patricia in November 2004. Their third kid, Henry Daniel, joined the family in June 2007. Even with the addition of their kids, the couple continues to keep their personal life private.
Julia Roberts and Emma Roberts
Julia might be one of the leading actresses of her generation, but many people do not know she also has a relative who is as talented, making her path in the industry. Many might’ve seen the credits of the 2007 movie “Nancy Drew” and wondered if any connection existed between Emma Roberts and Julia Roberts.
The two actresses are indeed connected. Emma is the offspring of Julia’s brother, actor Eric Roberts and Kelly Cunningham. The young actress has slowly been riding her wave in Hollywood.
Speaking about her famous aunt in an interview with Tatler Magazine, Emma disclosed that she had never felt the pressure to emulate Julia’s outstanding movie career. According to Emma, she never aspired to be Julia; although she loves the veteran, she’s just doing her own thing.
Emma, who started her career as a Nickelodeon star in “Unfabulous,” has starred in popular films like “Aquamarine,” “Nancy Drew,” “Hotel for Dogs” and “American Story.” about her role in the latter, Emma revealed:
“My favorite parts have been ones that people don’t expect — when Ryan Murphy cast me in “American Horror Story,” for example. People saw me as this nice teen girl, and I couldn’t get older, edgier roles at the time. “He gave me that opportunity, and I’d love to do that for others.”
