Songs by Destiny’s Child have remained evergreen even as it’s been sixteen years since the group became defunct. However, what are the Destiny’s Child girls up to in recent times?
Back in the early 1990s, music executive Matthew Knowles picked his daughter Beyoncé and equally talented pals, Kelly and Michelle, and transformed their musical process into the celebrated excellence known as Destiny’s Child.
This was an enduring group that grew through time and trends to produce some of the most recognized songs globally. Sixteen years ago, Destiny’s child bowed out of the entertainment scene. Its members have since gone on different paths leaving one to wonder where the units of this powerful group have been.
Making Destiny’s Child
The music franchise and brand that came to be known as Destiny’s Child went way back to the 1990s when it was just six little girls with a burning passion for singing. Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, Tamar Davis, Nina, and Nelly Taylor, came together with the help of Beyoncé’s dad, Matthew Knowles, and became Girls’ Tyme.
Girl’s Tyme first encountered the music world when they competed on the 1983 talent show “Star Search” and did not win. After that, the Taylor sisters and Davis were dropped, leaving Beyoncé, Rowland, and Roberson, making room for LeToya Luckett.
From there, Destiny’s Child was created, with their first album being a success. The girls released their self-titled debut album in 1998, with a hit song, “No No no part 2.” Other hit songs by Destiny’s Child include “Bug A Boo,” “Jumpin’ Jumpin’,” and “Say My Name.”
These were all from the group’s sophomore album. Later that year, Luckett and Roberson exited the group. Michelle Wiliams and Farrah Franklin replaced them. The group endured through the early 2000s, eventually splitting in 2005 with Williams, Rowland, and Beyonce. Here’s all they have been up to since then.
Michelle Williams

Luckett released a self-titled album, “LeToya” in 2006, and it spawned a hit single ‘Torn.” The star realized two more albums, “Back 2 Life, ‘a d n “Lady Love.” Luckett also ventured into Hollywood with acting credits including “Unsolved,” “Preacher’s Kid,” and “Lucky Girl.’ Luckett is mom to two kids from her former union with Tommicus Walker.

Farrah Franklin
Before joining the group, Franklin worked as an extra on the “Bills, Bills, Bills” video, and by 1999, Matthew invited her to join the group officially. After that, Franklin was a member of Destiny’s Child for a short period, within which she appeared in ‘Jumpin Jumpin” and “Say My Name: videos.
